I think the description you give of your ethnic background gives you the answer. None of these groups could be called ethnically pure anyway. The question of which culture group you belong to doesn't stem from your DNA but from what was your dominant cultural influence growing up. If you have this ethnic mix but you've been exposed to mostly American culture growing up, then you're American period. I have German, English, and Arabic DNA but it never occurred to me to call myself anything other than Irish.

BTW Black Irish was used to describe people from the West of Ireland whose skin is darker than usual due to Mediterranean heritage (not just Spanish, there's evidence of Portuguese and North African too). No one in Ireland would dream to qualify their Irishness in any way.

However, in recent times it's used more often to describe native-born Irish people of African ethnic background - some of the "new Irish". They too are usually regarded as Irish - they speak the same accent, play Irish sports, and despise the English.

Phil Linnott of Thin Lizzy was asked once by an English reporter what it felt like to be black and Irish - he replied, like a pint of Guinness. Anybody who dared to suggest that Phil Linnott was anything other than Irish would risk life and limb if they said so publicly here.

What do you mean by "Black Irish" & how can your mother be Irish/Scottish/English? That aside, I would say you have a majority Celtic culture group background.

dreamdress 2...weren't your parents simply from the United States? If I went back far enough I guess I could dig up at least Irish, maybe some other European link too, but both my parents were Scottish (apart from any Irish etc any might have way back) so if your folks call themselves American that makes you one too right? :o)

You're mostly British! If you want to be specific then I would say you should go with your father's last name. If his last name is from England then you could be English. The same for Irish.

It only seems to be emphasised that black adult men are the worst while it is composed of forsaking their babies. it easily relies upon at this style of adult men those women human beings % to be with. in the event that they tried to get a respectable guy who's all appropriate with accountability extremely of a few lazy bum, issues ought to prove in a distinctive way.

I don't know, but it sounds to me like you've got a really rich cultural heritage that you should be proud of. Most people would be lucky to have a lineage of such diversity.
