we always talk about great concerts .. but not always all the gigs we attend are great .. some bands just dissapointed, maybe they didn't play their hits , the song you were going for , maybe the sound was awful , etc ... what concert / festival you remember being the worst in your list ? .. why ?

50 Cent. First of all, I don't like him (got the tickets for free from my cousin). Second, he sounds nothing like he does in his studio songs when he sings live (and I don't mean slightly different, i mean it sounded like a completely different person). Third, the crowd was made up almost completetly of 14-15 year olds. Fourth, he'd do two minutes of a song, a gunshot sound effect would issue from the speakers, some other guy would run on stage and scream MAKE SOME NOISE! and then the next song would start. It happened like that over and over all night long.

Fifth, I wasn't drunk. I'm sure it would have been excellent if I was.

EDIT: Primus sucked too. And no, Primus fans, I don't mean it that way. It just seemed run of the mill to me, they played, they bowed, they left. And Les played the most pretentious solo I've ever witnessed: two notes, over and over, for at least three minutes. And the crowd was mad for it. I also had to attend the concert with a fat, stinky, nasty chain-smoking wench named "Soup" because my friend bailed on me. God that was an awful show.

Back in 1990 or 91 I went to the Springfield Civic Center in Springfield, Mass and saw three bands...Trixter, Great White, and The Scorpions.

Trixter had only one album and a couple of MTV hits, not too bad. Great White was...great! Played some Zeppelin tunes along the way.

I was dissapointed by the Scorps. They had absolutely no energy of life. Klaus (singer) was holding his own, but the rest of the band acted like they were nursing serious hangovers...which they probably were.

I remember seeing Poison in the late 80's, too. Tesla opened and rocked hard, and there was a 90 minute wait for Poison. The crowd was getting ancy. Finally they came out...played pretty well, but Bobby Dahl (BASS) looks like he was crashing as hard as anyone. He could barely stand up, swaying all over the place...totally out of his skull on something...

About three years ago, Lou Gramm and John Waite. Waite was incredible, just him and one side man with two acoustic guitars rehashing his hits from the 80s with some old Bad English and Babys tunes tossed in as well. Gramm..... well, I realize the brain tumor really screwed him up, but there's a big reason that Mick Jones didn't invite him back to Foreigner. I actually felt bad for the guy because of all the people that were getting up and leaving, but I didn't feel bad enough for him that it would stop me from beating my feet out after he crucified "Dirty White Boy."

Edited to add that my wife and I were both really disappointed with Bon Jovi last year (maybe two years ago). Bon Jovi the band no longer exists. They may as well be called Jon and four other guys. The whole concert was tailored for 30-something women that had their first orgasm while staring at a picture of Jon on their bedroom wall in the 8th grade. The only thing that remotely resembled a rock concert was Tico Torres playing the hell out of the drums.

I went to EndFest last year, a local festival type thing and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were headlining. The Chili Peppers were great, it was just that some of the openers were LAME. Snow Patrol bailed out a couple weeks before the show; Modest Mouse bailed at the last minute. Needless to say, we were a little pissed.

The Mars Volta, though - man, what a bunch of pretentious bastards. They almost wrecked the whole night. Someone threw something on stage and they got all huffy and walked off not ten minutes into the set.

The worst show was Clutch at the Galaxy. Clutch was spot-on that night but they had 4 opening acts that all sucked. One band (wannabe black metal) kept talking about how bad Fall out Boy is (they seemed obsessed), another sounded terrible (wannabe punk), and the other (they were called Duress) was the worst ever. They did a Tom Petty cover and were off key. The lead singer was some pretty boy just trying to get onto Mtv (those were his words). He was jumping around jamming on his guitar, but he didn't even realize it was not plugged in.They kept stopping mid song and starting over because they kept losing their tempo. And in the audience were all their moms and mom's friends. A bunch of wannabe MILFs from Orange County wearing too tight clothing, badly dyed hair, and their asses crammed into thongs. They were all right in front of us giggling and yelling the entire set. I'm glad they left before Clutch.

Well, it would have to be Great White at Brat Days a couple years ago, in Sheboygan WI. They played a few of their hits, but most the show they played a bunch of solo stuff from a guy in the band that was barely known. It's free, but all other bands I've seen there, Vince Neil, Dokken, B.O.C., they played every hit they made and more, but Great White was just disappointing that night. I also hate when you go to Summerfest and some soak has to be carrying like 3 beers and splooshing them all over the place, Summerfest is a madhouse, lol!

Marilyn Manson in 2005 (I think) being supported by Peachs. Peachs was just one woman tryign to get a cheap thrill from singing the whole set in her underwear and Manson played a collection of thier shittest hits whilst having no energy or stage show at all. It was horrendous.

I know this was the mobscene tour or whatever it was but I am only a fan of everything before that.

Does Marilyn Manson win this because they've had two mentions?

1984-Foreigner in Portland Oregon. The opening act played for an hour. Foreigner for 45 minutes. Most dissapointing concert I've ever seen. Also 1987-Ted Nugent. He was ok live but I wouldn't pay to see him again. I was actually thier to see the opening act. Michael Schenker Group which was awesome and Michael's flying V blew Nugent out of the water!

In terms of the band I would the Killers at reading in 2005 what a let down. Also went to see the foo fighters in hyde park in 2006 was really quiet you could hardlt hear it, was a massive let down.

Also really hated the stewarding and organisation of the Isle of Wight in 2006, you are not allowed to anything that slightly resembles fun. Or even take a small bag of crisps into the main arena

The Jesus and Mary Chain played Belfast in 1987ish and they were awful. I liked the band before that gig, being a moody teenager, but their drum machine kept breaking down and over the space of 90 minutes played a total of 20 mins. I had to save up my pocket money for a couple of weeks to go to it and they did'nt even apologise. B@st@rds.
