You have someone who will support you and care for you if you become ill and are unable to support yourself; you have someone to leave all your worldly possessions to.
I don't know....marriage is a legal contract--depending on your culture, it's approached differently. I knew an Indian woman who had an arranged marriage--and they had a child--and they seemed fine.

never legally get married, there are no pluses, only downsides such as combined income, so if you are a poor family its harder to get financial aid for the child, less government benefits financially because of the combined income... and remember the quote, "nothing lasts forever" and if that is the case with your marriage such as more than 40% of marriages in the US, then you have to lose loved ones, such as children, and everything has to be split such as houses, furnitiure etc!

You are entitled to benefits if your spouse dies; if you're not married, you get nothing. Besides the lovey-dovey reasons for getting married, all the legal reasons are monetary.
