but the warming of the earth now that it is inhabited by 6.5 BILLION people is what should be ALARMING.
If man continues to ignore the increase in flooding and the disease that comes with that or ignores the warming of the earths temperature and spends all their time ARGUING whether its man made or cyclical global warming we will ALL pay a price sooner rather than later.

Obviously, it matters...If it is cyclical, as I believe, it means it's a natural fluctuation cycle in the climate. If it's natural, nothing can be done about it, except to adapt to the reality of the situation and ride out the cycle until it comes back around to a cooler climate.

If it is primarily manmade, then the assumption is that something can be done to reverse it...The question becomes what and what is the effect it will have on society.

Edit: Wow...Your additional rants were the height in arrogance or at the very least fairy tale thinking...to think you can change a natural global climactic event such as cyclical climate change. You've been reading to many science fiction books. There are just some things Man cannot change...maybe in a few more hundreds of years...but not now, my friend.

Yes it matters.

Because if it is cyclical it has a history of warming and then cooling but the question is how warm will it get.

If it is man made then who knows how warm or hot it will get and then it is to be taken seriously.

honestly, I am split on this issue. I have not heard compelling, convincing evidence from either side.

However I will tell you something Al Gore and the Media are not to be trusted. It is a little suspicious when yahoo and every single media source is pushing a "green" agenda and barely telling you what you should do.

Look up the global carbon tax that they want to add to gasoline. That could be an incentive for the government and the politicians to be pushing the global warming hysteria.

If it is cyclical, the efforts taken now to slow down or lessen the warming may actually be harmful as we enter the next cooling cycle. In the 1970's, scientists were trying to figure out if they could do something that would warm the earth. If they had been successful, our current warming cycle likely would have been more extreme than it is now.

Let's look at the history of the earth, there have been a series of major fluctuations in climate. It is silly to thing that we can control our earth's climate. We can be good stewards of nature and try to leave our environment as clean as possible but we will never be able to control all of the many variables involved in climate change.

If it is caused by natural forces (instead of car exhaust) then why should we be fighting these forces? We should not.

For the same reason that we should do everything to stop global warming if it is man made, we should leave it alone if it is a normal cyclical natural change. All of the evidence I have seen points to the change being driven by nature.
