He's my fav hockey announcer. I remember his voice when I would play the NHL games with my older brother and sister. Is he the best or what?

"Make some hay? I haven't heard that since I worked in the Prairies!", "He got RUN OVER", "Let's chuck some knuckles!" Without Jim Hughson, I wouldn't have enjoyed playing hockey video games over the years. Hell, without NHL 2003, I would have gone stir crazy while I had mono. He's not only a great hockey broadcaster, but he is also a good baseball broadcaster as well. I remember a few weeks ago listening to him on a Blue Jays broadcast on CBC (he has had the experience as well...he used to do Triple Play Baseball for EA Sports).

I am not a Canucks fan but I have heard Jim Hughson many times. I have also heard almost all the local hockey announcers in Canada and on the FSN broadcasts in the US, as well as the national broadcasts on CBC and Versus. I don't think there is a better hockey play-by-play guy on the air in either country than Hughson.

Jimmy Hughson is the best Hockey Play by Play man there is in hockey today. He's way better than Bob Cole.

It's good that you like him..................however, you will be losing him soon. When Bob Cole retires in a few years, Jim Hughson will be replacing him as HNIC's lead play-by-play man on their national (i.e. Toronto) telecasts. Hughson has a home in Toronto from his days doing play-by-play for the Leafs and the Blue Jays.

I've liked him from the first game he did that I heard. He knows the game and he calls it with an even hand. He may not be as flamboyant a stylist as a Danny Galavan or Joe Bowen but he's so together and definitely one of the best right now.

I may be biased because Im a Canucks fan and have been listening to the guy forever, but he is my favorite announcer as well. Very fluent with his play by play and there is never dead air.
