My husband works for a Wisconsin based company so his salary won't change at all. I am an at home mom so the low salary rates there won't affect us. We live in Maine now where the daily cost of living gets higher by the day and the are about to raise taxes again! Bahh! Johnstown is tremendously cheaper than central Maine and we are already use to harsh winters. I guess My questions would be as fallows......
How are the school systems?
Is there artist relocation program really working? (It seems like a town w/ great potential in it future. That is what I want most of all)
Is it really the close community it claims to be?
And just for a silly comparison how much does it cost for a gallon of milk?

I appreciate any info ya'll can offer!!!!

This is a nice little town and I do agree that it has great potential. There have been a couple of movies shot here, Slap shot and All The Right Moves, and the setting was chosen because of looking so middle America/north.
There are two local high schools and they are rated average on a national scale.

BISHOP CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL

728 Ben Franklin Highway, Ebensburg, PA
814.472.7500

BISHOP McCORT HIGH SCHOOL

25 Osborne Street, Johnstown, PA
814.536.8991
Website: Bishop McCort Homepage

Sorry, I don't really know anything about the artist Relocation program.
check out the city web site. the ads for the local drive in and events and festivals will answer your question about small town closeness and community values.
Good luck. You could do a lot worse and not much better.
