Some people refer to people born under the sign of Cancer (roughly June 21 to July 22) as Moon Children because of the negative connotation of the word "cancer." The moon is the ruling "planet" for the sign of Cancer.

It is sometimes used to refer to children of hippies. Joke names for hippie children are along the lines of Moonbeam and Sunshine.

It does have other meanings. The Unification Church is almost disappeared since Sun Yun Moon went to prison -- but his followers were called Moonies -- and their children would have been referred to as Moon-children.
