Couldn't my ? I have cancer and was too ill to run my truck, for almost a year. I ran it the other day with no problems but today it makes this horrendous sound, like whining belts. LOUD and whiny and smells like burning rubber? Do I need to put some kind of lubricant on the engine after it sits?

The belts don't appear damaged but I did think I smelled Burning. Should I wash the engine, could be grit from sirring there?

its gonna make some noises, i would after sitting for a year. I would look at replacing the belts and hoses. Also you might want to look and make sure something isnt locked up. like a water pump or alternator or some other accessory.
I hope your cancer is in remission and may you beat it.

The $60 threw me off for a few moments there. You may have a problem with either a worn belt that has stretched and is slipping and squealing because of it, or you may have a problem with one of the devices that are powered by the fan belts. Like the power steering, water pump, AC, or alternator.
