They are supposed to be dishwasher safe so don't understand why they are going rusty. Things i have had for a while are just starting to rust. Please help!!

Salt. Our utensils at home go the same. We have a mesh frying pan cover which if washed in the machine goes rusty and we have to throw away. Wash it in the sink with washing up liquid it`s fine

Actually, it is because most dishwasher soaps contain chlorine bleach which will rust metals. Some of the less expensive utinsels have a higher content of steel than stainless.

First don't air dry. Use the heated dry cycle.

Buy better utensils. 18/10 stainless won't rust. Shop in an upscale kitchen store and stop buying at the dollar store. I shop in Williams-Sonoma and restaurant supply houses.
