It does break down into a handful of pieces, not quite flat, but close. It's held together with allen wrench top screw/bolts.

Don't store it! Use it for a display. Put it in a prominent place and put the dolls or teddies or whatever in it along with some baby pillows or something.

One of my friends uses hers for yarn stash storage. Very colorful and a great eye catcher conversation piece.

If you want to store it, wrap the rails in towels and tie yarn around to keep the towels on. Store it with a dust cloth over it, and think blankets around all 4 sides to prevent things from bumping into it. If the cradle is a hanging one, un-hang it for storage.
