Or does your opinion differ and you believe our "representatives" in DC actually do represent us?

What would I suggest John B? Perhaps that the people we elect to serve us actually serve US and not special interests and corporate interests.

And you didn't answer mine oldvet. What am I doing to redress my grievences? We I seem to be using my 1st amendment right to bring the issue to a segment of the public. Consider this my own personal soapbox. If a few people here take this issue to some of their friends and so on we have the beginnings of a movement. Perhaps we vote out all the incumbents and show these people we demand to be heard.

What are you doing except detracting from a legitimate question?

Oh come on now...you know they represent us. Yes, as the line their pockets (and freezers) with money.

Well now I am just one old man and do not know if I really want to get into this subject but got to anyway.
I would ask you all this. If not from taxes then where would you find the money to maintain freedom that you have today. Not saying that it is not abused, I agree it is.

Now who is the one that put these people in office? It was me and you!
If and I say if broad since, We had voted different people way back when just how much better do you think we would be today right now?
Got news for all of you, We would not be one bit better off.
We would be right here doing and saying what we are right now. Just different people to talk about.

It is our right to pay taxes. But I agree there should be a way to control how it is spent. Right now we really do not have a good and I mean Good way to do that with any party.
You hear them talking bull chit and most believe them. Some like me just pick the best of the lot to vote for. What they say before they get eledted does not mean anything at all.
LoL now do not get me started on the
Democrats lmao.
I am one the majority called Silent majority. Most times we just keep our mouths shut and bear it. But when we speak all hear our words.

Tell you this:
Most in our goverment really want to work togeather.
but for a few old people that still want to lead everything.
talking about Ted K., H. Clinyton, and so forth.
Now the new ones like this Obama! He came out of nowhere, someone real big is setting him up. Do not know just who right now.

Tell you this if I voted today I would have to vote for the old new York mayor. I know where I stand with him and very few of the others. Clintons never for me again never.

Forgive my spelling lol my eyes are bad and my fingers do not always hit the right keys, spell check not working good either lol.

What have you done to redress your grievances.? You did not answer John B.
You want an answer? Okay, I feel I am represented. SO I have no grievances. What are your specifics? Do you have any?
If this is your soapbox you will soon learn that no one on here much cares what you think. Not just what YOU think, but pretty much what anyone else thinks. Attack, no, that was far from an attack. It was a simple question. What have you done? I have no grievances and you have not stated yours so I do not know what answer you are looking for.

Good question!

I have long advocated a major overhaul of tax code and the abolition of the IRS. That is a major difference between conservatives and tax-and-spend, government-program liberals.

Lets fix real problems (current tax code) before inventing solutions (universal healthcare) in search of a problem!

Well as you probably know the taxation system is a complexed one. Taxation with out representation is basic tyranny. Plain and simple. I do see a major flaw in our voting system. I honestly believe that the popular voting aspect doesn't count for anything and the voting system is rigged.
I wanted to share this with you: :)

That is the question isn't it? Whom do they represent? Prior to their elections, they certainly say all of the right things to get us to vote for them.
It's only after they are in the seductive Charm of DC when they decide that it's more important to look out for themselves and their own interests.

We allow it because we have faith in the people we vote for. It's usually AFTER elections before we find out many (most?)politicians have their own interests in mind when they vote and decide on issues.

This is still America. What country do you live in?
If you don't like the federal tax system vote for someone who will change it. Ron Paul

I don't think most of the answerers read your entire question to see that you were talking about Washington DC. I agree that this needs to change.

And it is past time to fight another one! According to the first paragraph in the Declaration of Independence we are derelict in our duty if we don't.
