Because their parents are too uptight about sex.
It probably stems from the puritans who originally settled this country, but Americans have more hangups regarding nudity and sex than any other developed country. Oddly enough, we have higher rates of teen pregnancy too.

I am in total agreement with you. I think those two parents should be cained for taking their kids to see 300, and then have the nerve to say something like that. I've seen so many parents take their children to see ultra violent movies and then complain when they see a woman's nipple. I think it's outrageous. It's because we live in a society of backwards puritanical values that shun the ONLY reason humans continue to exist (sex) and glorify the reason we will perish (violence).
I'd like to see more Chanel ads like they have in France with a whole heap of nipples in them. I want to see frontal nudity on the cover of Time Magazine. I want to see a realistic sex scene that doesn't pretend that everyone has 30 orgasms and that there is no discussion of STDs or birth control, or need for lube. I want to see all this. I want to see puritanical Americans shudder and gasp when they see someone get killed in a movie, the way they do when they hear a woman use the word "vagina", or see two people bumping uglies.
I'm right there with ya buddy!

Watch the movie This Movie is Not Yet Rated. You'll find out all about this kind of stuff, and how the MPAA has a lot of very conservative people on the board. (Even some religious figures!) It's very interesting. I've always disagreed with the amount of violence that is accepted vs. the amount of sex. Sex is much more acceptable in my book.

Because here in America we need to feed the Need for Porn consumption, so in trying to hide love and sex then we creating a certain aura or mystique about it that can be fed into the Internet and Pay Per View porn industries.
If we were slightly more liberal in our attitudes towards sex we might be able to transpose that into the world of violence as well.
But this is America my friend, better close up that zipper lest you want to become a bleeder.

There's no good reason for it at all. Though I'm willing to agree that our culture should not encourage 13 yr olds to get involved with sex, it is at least a nice thing. Violence, on the other hand, has nothing to be said for it. I've always thought society had it's priorities wrong on this one.

That was one hecka of a film, probably the best I've seen in years and if the parents were complaining its because of their own stupidity brining young children to a 15 movie

Because they took their kids to see a violent movie with them they expected the blood and gore not the sex. That and sex is just a little more "taboo" to our society because it's a very personal issue and people usually have hard time explaining or talking about it openly.

you make a great point. i dont know the answer to the question. its all about how that family is brought up and how their values are. obviously, the parents thinks the child has already been exposed to violence so seeing it in a movie is not a bad thing. great question

I am going to skip the bad parent debate and jump straight to my theory that stupid parents can imagine their kids will have sex if they see it. I haven't yet figured out why they don't see the same danger in viewing violence.
