Ya know , those magical little things that show you everything that's happening in Iraq everyday , and therefore allows you to develop your own personal opinion minus media coverage ?
I didn't think so !!
Every one of you has developed their opinion about the Iraq war based upon media coverage . (except of course , those who fought there) . Good or bad , righteous or not , every one of you has and is being affected by the media . Therefore , I wonder how people can say that they 'know' what's going on in Iraq .
Two deep thoughts . Let's see how many of you can grasp them .
1. You only know what you know .
2. You don't know what you don't know .
Simple words , simple phrases , but difficult to grasp especially when people determine that their opinions are true or fact .
How many of you realize now that your opinions are based upon media coverage ?
(btw , I served in Panama during Noriega's regime . Nearly nothing in the MSM was true . Nearly nothing . Think about it . )

Hey doc, I too was down there, that was my UIQ-10 on the LAV-25. My opinion is shaped by what I see with my own eyes, and what I feel in my own heart. I love America and want her to be the pillar of justice. Right is right and wrong is wrong. We either stand for something or fall for anything. I did my time on the fence line and know without a doubt the type of America we can be when we are at our very best! You might be able to buy our media, you can interject opinion and call it news, but seeing is believing.

Once again I must agree with RAGE, and Earnest I have searched high and lo for all different sources of news from all sorts of places, read journal after journal, and have come to the conclusion that our troop's should not be in Iraq they shouldn't have been sent in the first place, it's nothing more than a web of lies and deceit that will drag on as long as politicians play the game of chess with the world using us as the pawns, Earnest they don't give a flying $hit about you and me we are just a bunch of tools that these politicians use as needed, have you checked out the FBI terror suspect list that is being distributed around sheriffs departments in Arizona?? not a word spoken about the so called Islamic terrorists who are out to annihilate us, it's the straw that broke the camels back for me. Everyone here in this forum is considered to be a terrorist, read it and weep and kiss yesterday goodbye.
Sorry Earnest, check out cookies anyones profile and his question are you a terrorist that where I got it from, get back to me please and let me know what you think.

True, but it cuts both ways. Those who say we should get out right away because they "know" what's happening there could well be wrong, and those who say we have to stay there because they "know" what would happen if we left could also well be wrong.
In other words, no one knows either one of those things. Therefore, perhaps we should make the decision about our soldiers based on our own national interest and the well-being of our young people and their families. Also, we should take into account how much it's costing us to be there and who is holding our enormous debt for the war (China), when perhaps it would be better to have a healthier economy and have some money to spend on our infrastructure and other problems here at home.

I don't "know" what is going on in Iraq but then again neither do you.
I do have a friend who has a daughter in Iraq right now and a son who is in boot camp. His daughter's ex-boyfriend was only 19 when he was killed in Iraq.
I can only hope that both my friend's daughter and her fiance get back from Iraq alive so they can fulfill their dream of getting married and buying a house. So that they can get on with their lives... uninjured, unhandicapped, and unscathed.
My opinions on Iraq are based on my respect for humanity. They were formed well before the media started majorly covering their version of what was going on.
And in case you were wondering, no, I don't get all my media off just one source.

If you think that badly then do not use the airwaves, (mobile pone, phones, web, ect.) you'll be able to reside as we did while the founders created this all and use the mail process. That remains to be federally blanketed beneath legislation. Your letters do not arrive censored or rewritten. New methods to make certain the protection people all must continually be written and transformed because of the enormously exchanging face of our science. I do not brain in any respect for the reason that I don't try to holiday the legislation. Fairly useful. If I do do whatever that explanations me to end up beneath research, then I am optimistic my movements will vindicate now not vilify me.

What is your opinion based upon? Nobody knows for sure what is happening in Iraq...What is undisputed is that 3600 soldiers have come home in bodybags from fighting someone else's war, that the military is stretched so thin that tours had to be increased from 12 to 15 months, and that by President Bush's own admission, Al Queda is as strong now as it was before 9-11. All of this came straight from Bush's mouth.

Apparently "Mission accomplished" Bush, "Last throes" Cheney, and "Cake walk" Tenet had their own pair, as well.
Why can't you folks simply admit that invading Iraq was a collossal mistake and we will never have the stability in the Middle East that we had with Hussein keeping the Shia sects in check.
By the way, all accounts suggest we have created more terrorists from this fiasco than those existing previously...

You are right in saying all we know is what is being reported by the media, unless you've actually been there. However, I've talked to several soldiers, once they've returned home, and their perspectives and opinions are as varied as those of us who haven't been there.
