Of course not!
Girls, for whatever reason are abjectly TERRIFIED of telling their mothers that their period has started, and it has been like that for generations. If you think back, I'm sure you were in the same position ...scared that you'd have something terrible happen to you.
Just be understanding and explain to your daughter that she needs to feel able to speak to you about EVERYTHING related to female reproduction. Trust starts with you.

No, I wouldn't. I didn't tell my mother until about 6 months later. My daughter told me the moment she had any spotting, but we have a much more open relationship than my mother and I.
It can be a scary time for young girls. She may have been afraid to tell you right away.
No need to be mad. Just answer any questions she has, comfort any fears and let her know you are there if she wants to talk about it.

Don't be angry with her. I understand you're probably feeling frustrated because you wanted to share in her first period and you want her to know she can come to you with anything, but girls are usually pretty shy about getting their first period. They may be feeling embarrassed or afraid that their mothers will make a big deal about it. I know I was pretty shy about telling my mother when I got my first period...I was afraid she would make a big issue out of it (she didn't, but my 14 year old mind at the time was convinced that she would!). Just be there for her, tell her she can talk to you about anything she needs to talk about and then let her come to you when she's ready to talk. Hope this helps.

No it is very embarressing to start your period. I thought when I started mine I was dying because my mother would not let me take sex ed. so I hid it for the first couple months but I know she knew what was going on. She just let me do it my way and that was much less stressful. Although not cool when you need pads.:( So don't be upset with her. Just be there for her and be glad that you get to share her journey into womanhood with her. It is a very confusing and frustrating time which you probably remember.

She was probably scared and thinking it through and getting her mind wrapped around it before she shared it with someone else. I'd be grateful that she came to me!! Getting your first period is a little scary and upsetting and maybe embarrassing to talk about with your parents.

i dindt tell my mom until the day after only cus i felt uncomfortable and i wanted to get out of school. dont be mad..just let her know that she can trust you with anything..and dont make it even more uncomforable by making a big deal out of it or making a big deal when she has to go by more supplies. just a heads up because that will just make talking about it more akward
