I have yet to find the info I need on changing my name.

Everything seems to cater to the just married or divorced and I am in neither situation. I just want a full name change.

What do I need to do?

Do I need to hire anyone?

How much will it cost

Actually, the forms and procedure are the same no matter where you reside. Here is a link to the California Judicial Council's site for forms and procedures:

It looks like the process is run by the Superior Court in your county. Here is the information I found doing a Google search for Santa Clara county: http://www.scselfservice.org/probate/adult/NamechangeAdults.htm#how

you don't need to hire anyone. you just need to be an adult. go to your city hall and check it out. We had a name change in the family, neither divorced nor married.

I think you need a birth certificate too...
as for the cost? I dunno.
