It's fine, during the first 3 months of being on the pill it is very common to have breakthrough bleeding. This sounds like what you've got. If it continues after you start your 4th pack then you will need to call your doc, but for now, it's totally normal.

It sounds like left over blood. It is probably pasty-like, right? Your body does that because when you take birth control, it changes your menstrual cycle pattern. Once it gets your body running to the way you take the placebo, then this brown discharge will stop. The length in which it takes place depends on if you are constantly around other females, because then your body will try to synchronize with theirs. If it starts to get bright red, GO TO THE DOCTOR! Until then, it is really nothing to worry about.

It is normal if it is in the middle of the cycle and does not happen often. If it is often (esp after sex) it could be a STD and you should call the doctor.
