Here's one I need your help in... my trusty 1995 318ti runs well, just hit the 88,888 mile mark today - not bad for a 12 year old car.

But during idle, when the fan starts either because of the AC or the water temperature, the engine idling speed drops to about 500rpm, the engine shakes, the lights dim, then recovers back to 800rpm. Any thoughts?

Could it be something to do with the idle control valve?

check for a broken vacuum line or cracked line. Also a bad oil cap can make the idle low. when the car is running take off the oil cap and see if it drops down if not replace the cap. also the air control valve can also make it idle low to test it running the engine warm and pull off the hose to it do not pull the plug it can send feed back to the ecu and fry it. if the idle drops it works fine if it speeds up or stays the same its plugged and needs to be cleaned. also a crack in the oil dip stick tube can also cause a small leak. pull out the dip stick half way when the engine is running it will idle down and than back up to normal if its fine.

I as quickly as stumbled on $six hundred blowing around the parking storage on the airport. i replaced into returning from a visit and that i think of the money replaced into lost by using somebody happening holiday. I became it over to secure practices and won a decision some month later telling me i can are available and p.c.. it up as no one had claimed it. next time I went to the airport (I shuttle plenty for artwork) I did p.c.. it up and today deposited it interior the Charity field for the national coffee/donut chain that replaced into interior the airport for his or her use at their baby's camps. the money wasn't mine interior the 1st place so somebody could get the benifit of it.

Go to autozone... have them check the voltages from your battery and alternator. They don't charge anything to have it checked. It sounds like it could either be a battery that needs to be replaced or the alternator is getting worn out and can't put out the required voltage.
