haha hold on i had to laugh at that for a second. Okay you get linksys connection (guessing you are on a wireless connection) if you are in close proximity with the AP (access point). If you dont have a default wireless connection it will go out and look for anything it can associate itself to depending if its secure or not.
Linksys is a company that makes Routers, Wireless Cards, Ethernets, VOIP phones etc. Basically an electronics company normally geared towards networking based on CISCO implementations.

linksys is a manufacturer or routers, access points, switches etc which is owned by cisco. Sounds like if you dodn't know what linksys is it may not be your router but rather a neighbors.
You can change your default and automatic connections under windows zero configuration utility
To improve signal basically you need to move closer to the router and avoid anything in line of site such as walls if possible

Linksys is the (crappy) brand of a company that makes devices for networking. If you don't know what it is, you're probably using your neighbors or something. Subscribe to your own internet connection and buy a wireless router like Dlink, Netgear, etc and then you will have a strong signal with fast speed.

Sounds like you are stealing a signal from someone else. Go buy your own Router.
Suggest a Linksys WRT54G.

Linksys is good brand of router for small office/ home office environments. The are actually a part of Cisco and if you got Cisco, in my opinion you got the best. The Linksys home page has a good tutorial on networking:

you are likely picking up a neighbors signal. if you get your own internet connection and your own wireless router, then the signal will be stronger and faster.
