For me Denver. It is very diverse and the people for the most part are very friendly, you get all four seasons and the complete lack of humidity here is also a real plus. Outdoor activities to do all year round, hiking, biking, canoing, rafting and within 45minutes you could be up in the mountains enjoying some really incredible and beautiful scenery, not too mention the skiing and snowboarding you can get in during the season.
The downside is that the price of everything is slowly beginning to rise.
and to a less extent Seattle would be my second choice, the downside Seahawk fans! ha ha.

people say that NY is the safest big city in the US, but the term safest there is not really reassuring.
the best city is probably Honolulu, peaceful, diverse, surf & sand, nice weather, & everything else, if you like those kinds of things.
anyway if you are in the US, you would probably say anything else except where you live. so some people in Honolulu will probably also choose another city.

Many jobs and cost of living is not high. If you want to buy a home, Texas is the best place to buy a home. You can get more for your money.

I like my hometown of Dallas, Texas. It is diverse, has good jobs, isn't as expensive as other big US cities, and has a lot to do here.
I also really like San Diego, California. It is very beatiful there and doesn't feel like a big city.

San Francisco city proper (excluding its burbs) - if I lived in one of those $3 million victorians on Pacific Avenue
Honolulu and Miami Beach - if jobs, crime rates and average salaries were not considered.
San Diego/Orange County cities - if more of the residents weren't either so uppity or spacey.
