I went through the same thing when I started HS. After the first week of school, I got sick of trying to make myself look perfect everyday. So most days, I only wear mascara and I pull my hair up. No one really cares.
Don't over do it. Stick to your normal make-up routine. Don't start getting up at 4 am to do your hair and make-up. You'll fall asleep during class, and thats not good. You want to look like yourself, not someone else.
For your hair, do something that will stay all day and that is comfortable. If it annoys you to wear your hair down, then don't wear it down to school. Also, factor Gym Class into planning your hair style. You want it to still look nice after Gym (I'm not sure if your school makes you shower after class or not. My school doesn't, so you need to quickly fix it after class and go).
If you are nervous about classes, make sure you go to the Freshman orentation if your school offers one. It'll give you a chance to walk the halls and find your classes without a bunch of older kids shoving past you. Also, do your homework!! It helps so much, and it really doesn't take that much time. Another thing, don't do drugs or drink. It only hurts you.
Finally, RELAX!!! High School is great. You'll be fine. And, your friends will be there with you.

You are supposed to act like yourself. If that is who your friends liked in 8th grade, that's who they will like in 9th grade. Although SOME people will like your for your looks, those aren't really the people who will stick with you!
As to your hair and makeup ... stick with what you know on the make-up. What's familiar, then you won't stress. As to your hair, ask your parents if you can go the day before and get a really great cut and style (but make sure it's something YOU can work with when you get home). That will give you a little self confidence boost.
At this point, you may not believe it but school is much more than your hair and make-up! It's all about your attitude and what you want to make out of it! Take the opportunity to join a sports team if possible. Join a club, sing in the choir.
If you stress about being the prettiest, it will be a VERY long four years!

I'm going to be honest and say that it's going to be tough. You will have a hard time finding your classes for the first couple of days (unless you are familiar with the school), high school is much tougher in the sense of classes, homework, and the teachers are tough.
So, the best thing to do is stay tight with your friends and try to be friends with other people. Look good, stick with what you know, don't over-do anything. You don't wanna look like a nerd or a stuck up girl who thinks she's better than everyone else. Be friendly and make people like you. You're much better off being yourself than a fake. You should also get involved in clubs, sports and anything else you like. Stay focused in classes. Freshman year is important, if you mess up then, it's hard to bounce back.
Hope this helps. I've been through the freshman jitters.

1. Don't worry, get a friend who already goes to the school to give you a tour the day before, that way, you'll know where all your classes are the next day.
2. Act yourself, never change yourself because you don't think you'll fit in, believe me, you'll find plenty of friends.
3. Try your best not to put on too much make-up, you'll look unnatural & fake, just a touch of what you normally put on will do.
4. Make a good impression by being nice & friendly.
5. Go to get your hair cut, & ask the person what they think will look best on you, & make sure to talk to them so you know how to style it each day, I recommend layers, becuase all you have to do is brush it in the morning, and it looks great!

Well i have definitely been through that. I'm a senior this year and let me tell you that you always make it out to be so much worse then it really is. I had the same worries about starting high school. For makeup id say just stay with whatever you usually wear. Of coarse act like yourself. stick with your Friends as much as possible, have them help you with what to wear and how to do your hair. id say for the first day try to stay simple with your hair. either a high or low pony tail...not one in the middle of your head. or just wear your hair down. You can play with it more throughout the year but for now your still making a first impression so you don't want to look like your trying too hard. but just stay true to yourself no matter what you do.

Most important thing is to observe.
Then, stick with your age group---ignore those upperclassmen, if you can. They have no interest in you at all.
Stick with your class-level, get to know them one by one, and experience the fun of being right where you are. It will never come again---these people will never be as happy or excited about life as they are now---you won't either.
But of course you won't get it "right" the first day, week, or month. There's no reason for you to try to, either. If you do, and are constantly criticizing yourself, you will miss all the drama around you. Pretend you are stepping into a river---you will float down the river, and have a blast. But this is also the fastest changing river in your life, and no place to be worrying about details of makeup!!! Most of these people you will never see later in your life again---but the fun memories will shape your life.
Also, the people who look best and fit in best in High School usually look out of it, and don't fit in in later life, so don't change yourself.

I had the same worries when I was an incoming freshman. Take it easy. Be yourself. High schools have a lot of people in it, so you'll find people who are like you. Be friendly, don't be shy. Don't obsess over your looks as much as you seem to be doing now, it only gets more guys to try and take advantage of you.

Being in college now, I was very much like you before the first day of high school. The first day can be very hectic. You need to adjust to a new school, find all your classes on time, meet new people who already have friends in high school, SENIORS who are very rude!!!(I was never like that):) Just stay calm and you will get the swing of things.

Act the same way you did in 8th grade last year. Wear your hair the way you want to wear it. There may be some 11th and 12th graders who want to be like you.
