I know exactly how you feel. Everyone has a complicated life with kids, grandkids, divorces, etc, etc, etc. It's tough to form a bond when everyone is just so busy. If you have a hobby or passion for something, try finding someone in that group. At least you will have a good starting point.
If all else fails and you become desperate, I'll be your friend. :)

In order to have a best friend, you both must be willing to invest in the relationship. Too often at the age of 47, you're busy with spouses and kids to invest like that...but it's certainly possible.
Acquaintances are people who COULD be friends, good friends, or best friends.
-Where are you acquainted with them from? Pull them into areas where you don't normally do things with them. For example, get gym acquaintances to meet up for dinner. Eventually, maybe invite them over to a party, etc.
-Open up a bit to some of them. I'm not saying to throw all your skeletons out there, but ask them for personal advice, etc.

It is never too late to find a best friend ,but you may already have a best friend that you don`t know of ,one of your acquaintances may be, When you are in real trouble they stand by you that is a true best friend. As when we have problems that is when you find a best friend and if you do stick by them. How to try and find Friends is first think what your interests are then go to places with same interest as you you will meet many people but if they are to be best friends time will tell you

i sense that you are lonely....maybe one of those acquaintances would really like to be best friends too.search among the people you have already developed a common bond with ie love of music, movies ,etc and try to encourage a more lasting friendship to bloom.it seems to me that as we age we tend to isolate ourselves from the world, try t obe a little more outgoing with people and you may find that you can indeed become someones best friend. good luck

Yes there is still time for you, you still have a lot of your life left! And you ought to enjoy it with people you care about. But it will take a lot of initiation on your part, try reading the book "The Friendship Factor" by Alan Loy McGinnis. It will give you a lot of good direction.
