Connect your mouse or phones to the usb 1.1 port and your camera,external hd to the usb2 ports.

For high usage use the usb2 port and usb1 for low usage. By default USB is really slow.

USB 1.1 transfers data at 12 megs a second, where 2.0 transfers data at 400 megs a second. to have USB 2.0 you must have Service Pack 2 installed.

2.0 is faster.....faster still is a firewire port...........you can get pci cards for usb2.0 and firewire
