Seeing as it is a startup I would need volunteers to get it started. Once I start selling ad space I will be able to pay the contributors. Anyone interested please let me know.

Basic rule of economics: you get what you pay for. It would be tough to find writers of any ability who would be willing to contribute stories without being paid. Why should they help you? So you'd need a little seed money to get the ball rolling and to see if the idea can catch on commercially.

It's an interesting idea. The big problem is that book reviews have to cover a very wide range of subjects, and advertisers are going to have trouble knowing who might buy such a publication. History, science, how-to, sports, fiction ... not many read all of those.

With all the book critics available in every media, rethink your idea.
