Based on the info. I've heard on them, I have come up with the following:
* they are people from another time. Somehow, time overlaps (supported by the heathen view of time in a circle rather a straight line) and we see these people and they probably see us
** they are guardians (wights) of sorts.
*** they are beings from other worlds.

The answer to this question is that no one knows.
Many people use the word ghost to mean the surviving spirit of a deceased person. However as far back as 1882 when the Society for Psychical Research was formed scholars and scientist starting using the term apparition meaning the image of a person that you know to not be physically present at your location. Obviously dead fits this definition but note that being dead is not required.
Live people in time of crisis or at death are sometimes seen by those to them (known as crisis apparitions).
The best book written on this subject (sadly) was written back in 1901 by FWY Myers and is titled
"Human Personality and It's Survival of Bodily Death"
I suspect that there are multiple explanations required for ghosts (not a precise enough term to study) of different types. One of the prejudices in science is to want one explanation that covers all phenomena.
Some of the theories are as follows:
The surviving spirit of a deceased person
An event that was somehow recorded in the environment.
Hallucinations (which may be caused by ESP via spirit)
Hallucination during waking dreams (when you are just falling asleep or just waking up)
Time slips (you are seeing into the past)

Ghosts, in my opinion, is an after image. It is what is left behind or captured and then stored in specific materials. This probably happens at a traumatic in that persons life. The body's electromagnetic field interacts with environmental field and an image is created and stored, kind of like a natural hologram.

At death we are resting in the grave until judgement day, so ghosts cannot be dead humans. But this spirit being or creatures from another world abond in the earth.

So these wicked spirits are down here but are not guardians of your soul they are here mad and wanting to hurt you.

I have never seen a ghost,spirit or demon in person do I don't believe such thing exist. But if u want to think they do thats fine with me. I weren't ruin your beliefs.
