Apparently, penmanship practice for schoolchildren at the Newlands Primary School includes pledging allegiance to the Muslim god:

August 06, 2007

ANGRY parents have blasted a teacher for telling ten-year-olds to copy a Muslim prayer saying “There is no God but Allah”.

Helen Green is said to have picked the Muslim call to prayer as HAND-WRITING practice.

It includes the lines “Allah is the greatest” and “I bear witness that there is no God but Allah”.

Pupil Billy Darbyshire’s stepmum Hayley Clayton said: “The explanation was that the children were learning about Islam in RE.

“But this was like he was taking an oath. A Muslim child would never be asked to write a Bible passage.

“Why didn’t she choose a passage from a normal story book to teach handwriting?”

Good Grief ... people are figgin' crazy. I (as a Con) would love to get Libs' reactions to making them write the Lord's Prayer. It would be ALLLL over the news, the ACLU would be involved. Such a double standard.

Another case of idiot America blowing things out of proportion. A written oath means NOTHING!!!! Of all the evil in this world, we Americans choose to get upset over this? So what if a Muslim kid would never be asked to write a bible passage? That just shows how much more of an enlightened culture we are. We can choose to believe in whatever stupid myths we want. Learning some of the 5 pillars is not a bad thing. Teach the children about all faiths and let them choose for themselves. But, I guess that is just too "leftwing" and "moonbat" for you.

"A Muslim child would never be asked to write a Bible passage."

To the contrary, I am a Muslim who grew up in a Christian school. The teachers were more than aware that I was Muslim but I was forced to sing hymns, perform in the nativity play and recite many stories from the bible. I even got in trouble once and was kept behind after class for refusing!

which would be an overstatement. yet I agree that's manipulation of the little ones. It replaced into needless to say incorrect! it is likewise exciting that the liberals at the instant are using the middle call each and every of the time. i individually think of they could have achieved that on the beginning up instead of having outraged each time a conservative used it. Now, i don't love it while people such as you employ the middle call through fact it comes throughout the time of as xenophobic and serves just to distract from the genuine subjects like Obama's appointment of a self-avowed communist as an adviser. yet i think of if the liberals had embraced the middle call from the beginning up, they might have effectively disarmed the conservatives' tries to bash Obama together with his center call. not that Obama does not should be bashed, yet, please. Bash him according to rules, not shallow issues like his center call!

Everything else American kids are taught is a lie in the realm of politics and religion, why not improve their handwriting w. more of the same?
They weren't taught that America installed ICBMs in Turkey in '62 and that Russia retaliated by doing the same in Cuba before or after the events, what difference is a one off deviation from the religious script going to make..

No, I don't believe in that. I do believe in the separation of Church & state.

Now, why in the world did you not mention that this wasn't a school teacher here in the U.S.??

And I'm confused by your very last comment. Leftwing moonbats infesting education? How did you come up with that?? You think that we would want this to happen here in the U.S.??

No one should be forced to praise any deity. Religion should be kept out of the classroom except in schools run by churches. In secularly run schools very brief and very general discussions may take place if someone asks but the conversations should not last long and certainly teachers should remain neutral in the discussions.

Because one teacher in the UK made a serious error in judgment, all liberals want schoolchildren to praise Allah? Please explain the logic of the question.

You know that liberals do not believe in religion in public schools. Even a comparative religion class would not call for writing prayers.

Liberals hate the co-mingling of Church & State, period. Obviously that teacher is not with the majority. Otherwise, she is very conservative thinking it's OK to mix religion into the school curriculum. But I'm only referencing this in relation to the U.S. Constitution--I have no idea what the Brits follow. Maybe it's normal for them to do this in a "Comparative Religions" course... that would make sense.
