Vampires have existed throughout all of history the first being Lilith first wife of Adam. Our version of vampire as written by Bram Stoker originated with Vlad Dracul a prince and then king in Romania, more often referred to as Vlad the Impaler, because of his impaling of the land lords in his kingdom and any subsequent POW's that arose with his war with the Turks. Many view this a inhumane but in his home town he is a hero that saved his nation from the invading army's.. Another legend is of a queen Catherine whom bathed in the blood of servant girls from neighboring towns in the belief that this action would keep her eternally young. There are so many jump off points for the origin of vampires some have already been listed here by members such as Vlad the Impaler and the Bram Stoker's Dracula. Another historical person believed to be in that category is Elizabeth Bathory. I first heard her mentioned in a Cradle of Filth song then took time to research her story which is true. I can't recall the exact facts so don't hold me to this. Pretty much she was married into royalty, owned a big castle, and so on. She one day realizes after getting blood on her from I think someone elses cut that her skin looked younger and fresher. Soon she was kidnapping young women in village with the help of her servants, torturing and killing them. Everynight she would bathe in their blood believing she would stay young forever. She soon was caught and investigators found hundreds of dead bodies. Her servants were sentenced to death and she was locked in her tower where only a slit was made to give her food. Like I said I don't remember the exact facts but the story was cool- historical tie in with vampire myth.

He used to take the people who broke the law and put a long pole with a sharp tip and stick it half way through the stomach so they can die a slow and painful death.
