when in a arguement, why do they just sit there and look at you, and say nothing. i dont understand. dont even try to defend themselves and actions, just sit and stare. what is that?

Men and women argue differently. Women tend to have emotional reactions; men tend to have logical reactions. That's logical as in "figuring out how something works", not as in the "opposite of illogical." From my own personal experience, a man who thinks logically is not going to have much to say in an argument. For him to try to argue emotionally, he's going to be out of his element and will probably (A) say something he doesn't mean, (B) say something to (further) upset the woman. When I have arguments with my wife the last thing I want to do is say something that's going to make her *more* upset, so I keep my mouth shut and try to come up with nonconfrontational ways to address the situation.
Think of it the other way--your man is probably thinking "when in argument, why is this woman doing all the talking? Do they have to rehash every single point of their actions out loud? Can't they just be quiet for 10 minutes and figure out a solution instead of beating me over the head with the problem?"

Women tend to be irrational. Once they gets started it's like an avalanche. What's the point in saying anything if it's just going to get turned around and used as more fuel to the fire. I just sit there and wonder how awesome the make up sex is going to be. If I think she's being really over the top about it I'll just walk out and she can keep yelling at my back. If I did actually do something wrong then I apologize and expect that to be that. But NOOOO women have to hold onto it for days. Why? Because they can't figure out how to let go. They sit and think about it, going over every word that was said and try to figure out the hidden meaning. Well, there is no hidden meaning when you just shut up and let her waste oxygen.

Arguments with women are usually about feelings and we take a long time to process what it is you really want. We have also been told that when you are upset it is best to listen and not try to solve the problem.

It depends.May be they have nothing to add;may be they prepare the right answers or may be they have no interest to argue with you.
Very often is better to stay silent than talking or screaming.

we can only say two things
1. the wrong thing.
2. nothing.
it takes a long time to come up with the right answer or atleast an arguement worth bringing up. then we have to think of what to say before screwing it up.

if you're in the wrong, what is there to say? i have sat there and took it when i deserved it. sometimes there is no defense when you are clearly in the wrong. my wife isnt one that wants to hear excuses. by the same token, if i am in the right, i will stand up for myself. to throw all men together is kind of wrong. not all men do that. i know some that fight and argue even when they are completely in the wrong.

A lot of men don't, those that do possibly aren't the arguing type and don't like confrontation.

They realize that there is no point to the fight and figure that you are actually just venting. Or that you lack the ability to force them to do your bidding so why even fight about it since they will do what they want any way.

they don't like conflict with a woman, i think that if they talk more it'll just make us madder and take us longer to get through our argument so they sit there and infuriate us even more
