I think you ought to research your opinion before going public with it here - your making yourself look just a tintsy-wintsy bit foolish.

Greedy farmers! I've heard that many times. I've worked in the farming industry as a herdsman. I've seen at first hand how some farmers struggle to make ends meet. If they are all greedy pray tell me why so many go out of business.
The BSE crisis and the cattle feed in question was not the result of farmers it was the result of the farming food industry. Cows have been eating cowcake as we used to call it in the 50's for years with no problem. It's no more than you have eating a food supplement. In the winter of 1963 our cattle couldn't go out for months. The hay and silage supply dwindled and without the cowcake we'd have had starving cattle. Farmers all want the best for their herds. It is only common sense. A healthy animal is worth money but a sick one is a liability.
It's all very well you coming on here spouting all of this. I doubt you know what farm life is like. I was up most mornings at 3.30am a time you probably think is the middle of the night. I never finished work until after the evening milking. Many nights that was about 8pm. Greedy people don't work themselves to death to earn a living. Don't forget either, cows don't have time off for Christmas, they still need to be milked, so remember that fact when you are eating your Christmas lunch.

The latest outbreak of foot and mouth disease is hardly the fault of the farmers

I'm also not sure what, if any compensation British farmers get. Several British farmers went bankrupt during the last outbreak and about 3 committed suicide. I expect French farmers are treated much more fairly.

yeah I think these people really need to think about properly looking after their livestock, from birth to slaughter. Greed and poor ethics seems to be a majour contributor to their problem
