The meaning is kind of in the quote, isn't it? It doesn't have any double meaning or anything. As far as I can tell, though (just in case it does have a double meaning), it means that something which makes an impact on us, or is profound and deeply important to us, is very hard to forget. For example, if you find one book interesting or hard-hitting, then you remember that book.

Mrs True said,"Do you know why you're here? You're here because nobody wants you...not even your own mother!" Her lie scarred me more deeply than a branding iron or shark bite. But my soul recovered and has become more beautiful for having gone to Hell as a result of child abuse by a caregiver who worked for my legal guardian., The state of Maine. since you asked in philosophy...

"Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth, more than ruin, more even than death. Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man."
Bertrand Russell

I forgot who said:

"Most people would rather die than think - and indeed they die."

...but he/she was right.

We've tried to pray more saints out of heaven than we have sinners out of hell.

in other words, we pray more that a christian won't die when they have cancer or are about to die, than we pray for the lost people in the world. What, do we think this world is a better place than heaven? I don't know who said it but its sadly true.

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, if you can force your heart and nerve and sinew to serve your turn long after they are gone, you will be a man my son.
