I have a hard time "getting over it" when someone is unpleasant or just downright irrational. I know in my mind that they're the stupid ones, but I still feel bad. How do you cope with this kind of thing?

I know it is NOT easy but like you I have a hard time forgetting what the person did or said then I say to myself"Stop thinking of this JERK cause when you keep thinking of the person you end up hurting yourself," Also I say to myself " I doubt they are upset or worried about me " so when you start to think of the idiot say to yourself "I am turning them off in my head "and do something to take your mind off the idiot[s].
I hope this helps!

It's neither that simple nor that easy ie to say that forget about nasty people or let them be damned etc.Such approach may give temporary relief but our angry thoughts keep coming back on one pretext or the other.Since a thought[anger, rage, anguish or whatever] has been generated and can't be brushed aside,it has to be spent till it is extinguished. There are various ways to do it but the simplest and equally effective is to find a lonely place and curse, abuse or call names or some thing similar, at full voice volume till you feel that you have had the final say or feel relieved or have given enough in return to the person concerned or any which way you get relieved.Just try it on an experimental basis and you shall find that no residual anger is left within you.Slowly you may work on it to design a process suitable for your temperament.

well it's only natural that it would be harder to get over something when someone is being unpleasant to you. but like you said, they're stupid idiots. cope with it by talking to someone with more of a gentle nature who will give you sound advice.

take care!

Some people are just naturally grumpy, irrational or stupid. When I encounter someone like that, I take comfort in knowing that I only have to be with them every once in awhile, but they have to be with themselves all the time. Sucks for them, not me!

You're taking it personally; as if they are being deliberately unpleasant just towards you and no one else. Some people are just grumpy; some are jerks. Don't take it to heart.
