How late do you have to be running before you give a courtesy call to say that you will be late?

Do you call if know you'll only be like 5 minutes late? Or do you call only if you're going to be REALLY late? (or in between.)

As soon as I realize I'm going to be late, I usually call. Anddddd sometimes it ends up that I'm not late and so everyone is surprised (me included!), and at other times it was a good thing I called cause I was uber late. It never hurts to give the courtesy call!

Depends on what you will be late for, and with whom. If it's a job interview and you think you will be even a minute late, you better call first. If it's coffee with your best friend, 5 minutes is acceptable without a call, as long as you apologize when you arrive. If it's over 5 minutes, a call and apology are always necessary if you are able to get to a phone. The only exception to this is if the inviter has given you a time range, such as inviting you to a party that will last from 8 PM until midnight. In this instance, you can safely arrive up to a half hr after the event starts without an apology or call.

You should call even if your gonna be 5 minutes late because what ever it is that you'll be late for people will know to wait for you because you don't want to miss anything

If it's a formal situation, I would call if I knew I was going to be more than 5 minutes late. However, if it was an informal situation, I'd call if going to be more than 10 min. late but I always try to be on time if not early.

I am never late. I have an heart attack, if i am ever late anywhere. If i am going to get there 5 minutes late,i will call or i will call if i think i am going to be late at all.

It really depends on where you're going and what you're going to be late for. If I were going to be late for work I'd call when I'm going to be five minutes late. Because someone may be waiting on you to come in before they get to leave. If I were meeting friends I'd give myself ten minutes before I called to apologize.

I call if I'm not going to be on time. Regardless of how late i'll be, 5 secs, 5 mins, 5 hours.......It's common courtesy to do that. I'll give people hell if they pull that with me, 5 mins more or less let them know because they have things they can be doing other than waiting for you to show up.

if i'm going to be more than 5-10 minutes late -- but it depends what it's for, and who -- a family thing, like if i go see me mum, i still call before the time i told her i'd be there if i'm going to be about 10 minutes late -- but a business appointment, i call if it's ANY minutes late.
