I know that cablevision made an offer & the Yankees said no which was a good decision. I don't want them anywhere near the yankees. The already ruined the Knicks & the Rangers under their ownership so imagine how bad they would ruin the Yankees.

I would think that the Yankees would stay with the controlling parties, The Steinbrenners and his partners. George's son Hank is running the team now and will be in the future. His Daughter may get more involved in time and after she divorces Steve Swindell, who used to be the one calling the shots. If it is sold the Team would probably take 1-1 1/2 Billion to purchase it and would have no long term effects. The Yankees are a draw not only in the NY area but every place they go. They are profitable and in today's market that's amazing even with their 200 million payroll.

Well, the Yankees would be sold for a large amount of money, so whoever could afford them, would rich, and afford all the players.
But I thought Steinbrenner was going to pass the Yankees down to a family member....?

I think George Steinbrenner will leave the team to a member of his family. No way he will sell the team.
If someone buy the team, they will continue to spend money. The NY fans will not let the team be non-competitive. The NY Yankees fan would burn down the stadium if the team don't have rich, competitive, and high paying players.

Depends on who buys them. The team can STILL pull in the money. The questions will be does the new owner have deep pockets, is he interested in spending the money, and will he be as business smart as The Boss. I'm not a fan of Steinbrenner but I'll give the man the credit he deserves for knowing how to make as much money as that team generates.

yankeefan's so right. And yes, it appears the Steinbrenner name will be on the Yanks for another generation or two. They'll still be rich regardless, the question is who is genuinely impassioned about keeping his team a winner like George has.
