Why is it that when someone tells you that there’s billions of stars in the universe, you believe them. But if they tell you there’s wet paint somewhere you have to touch it?

billions of stars in the universe because in the clear night sky. you really see lots of sparkling stars.
you cannot prove to yourself that a paint is wet until you touch it.

Lol, I know! It's like, people can't help themselves. Seeing a "wet paint" sign is an invitation to touch the paint.

Because no one will take the time to count stars. It is easy to test wet paint.
