My friend's daughter is an early teen and she first got her period in 2006, for 2 times , then it stopped and came back one time this year in April, she knows it's not about sex, she's positive, but she doesn't know what to do also. What do u think is going on?
Help.

Periods at their age are not going to be consistent. Their bodies are still growing and adjusting the biological clock within them. If the period does not dome back for half a year, I would suggest seeing a doctor. Ask if you should have her testosterone and estrogen levels checked. Also, stress, sleep, exercise, and eating habits may all be factors and at this age, everything tends to be just a little out of wack untill their systems get normal.

I am not a doctor or anything, but I think that when girls first start their periods, their cycles aren't that regular. She could have something called ammenoreah (sorry if the spelling is off, working from memory here) which, if I remember correctly, is the seeming absence of a period/very, very long stretches between periods. Your friend should take her daughter to her regular gynecologist to get a correct diagnosis.

Sometimes when a girl gets her period for the first time, it is not normal or regular. Your friend may want to discuss this with her daughter's pediatrician and see what they have to say about it.

She is just not a regular cycle yet. Or if she plays sports, that can mess it up too. Don't worry. The first time I had my period, I didn't get it for another 6 months.

It isn't unusual for a young girl to have irregular periods. If she knows her daughter isn't sexually active then she doesn't need to worry about it. If she is worried about it, she might talk to her doctor about it when she goes in for her yearly checkup, but I mean her pediatrician, not a gynecologist unless her doctor recommends that.

Usually it could be due to stress or a hormone condition called polycistic ovarian syndrome. I had the same symptoms and asked my doctor about it and she diagnosed me. It's nothing serious and plenty of options to make everything "normal". You should ask your physician about it.
