Mazda probably won't bring back the RX-7 because they now have the RX-8 which is basically the same car minus the turbo.

its probably just as likely that they might create a MX-5 coupe to fill that spot. I'm betting they would want to base any sports coupe off of an existing platform to save on costs and the MX-5 is probably a better choice than the RX8 platform. Sure they would need to make some modification for the lower hung rotary but if they used the RX8 platform it would require shortening it and its probably easier to adapt to a platform thats already got the right overall size and just monkey with the motor and tranmission mounts.
Then again... I just don't know if there is a market for another RX7.... yes they were slick and fast... but they cost so much (not to mention insurance costs) that they kinda priced themselves out of the market place.
You need lots of sales to keep a car like that going and unless they get the prices down to Mustang terrirtory I don't see many getting sold.

You've obviously been reading Automotive Magazine. As with any journal, it's hard to determine their sources. 2011 is mentioned as a possible year for them to bring back a RX-7, but rumors are floating around the internet all over the place.

I heard 2010.
Who knows. I'll fight you for first place in line though.. *wink*
Its all rumor and speculation at this point, nothing concrete, and Mazda is adding to that by keeping all details (if any) under lock and key.
