First, please remember punctuation. Its probably a hardware issue, or your OS got corrupted. You could take it into best buy to get fixed, they'll completely overcharge you for the work they do, but hey they might be ablet to fix it. See if you can get a friend to let you borrow their cd drive and try that.

Well ... I'm not sure exactly what this is, but did you run anyway spyware or anti-virus programs that may have done something to your computer? You can try and do system restore if you eventually can get into your programs. Right now I suggest running your system in safe mode (press F8 repeatedly at startup, it may take a few times but eventually you will get some options, and it's pretty self explanatory.) If you get this, run system restore to a day before your computer went like this. Start >>> Programs >>> Accessories >>> System Tools >>> System Restore. Hopefully it will be okay! :) This only helps major changes to your C drive, so you will not lose any important emails or files :)

how old is the computer? what OS? I'd check the hard drive for bad sectors or if it's close to failing. also you can try to boot up at the last known good configuration by pressing F8 right before the boot screen. There's lots of things you can do, more details would be helpful.

Would it be so terrible to call in a professional to repair it for you? I don't mean PC World, try your local newapaper or ask around. I repair computers and I do it without losing the owner's data, music photos etc. if this is humanly possible.
By your own account you are not terribly careful or good at paying attention to what your computer is telling you, so you may not be the best person to attempt a repair.

Go to my computer. right click on your disc drive. Go tools and Disc Check. Run scan.
Option 2- directly on booting up press delete to bring up BIOS
Make sure your disk drive is at the top of the list so that you can reinstall your windows programme. It will explain how to do this in BIOS. Don't panic, if you make a mistake you can set BIOS to default, usually by pressing f5.

1st, when starting up spam f5 then use the safe mode startup, see if that works, if it does and youve just recently installed some software or a driver, remove them
and error messege would help...words (the numbers are junk)
if it doesnt you could have a serious hardware issue and for a pc novice youd need to take it to get it fixed

happened to me recently and had to get a recovery disk from toshiba. so if you have a recovery disk put that in your drive and press F12 and the disc will take you trough the procedure. you will still keep all your email, notepad etc stuff but everything else will be lost, i.e i lost 400 odd i tune songs and 20 odd films. you can get them to recover your stuff at pc world but it costs, it is a pain in the **** as i have norton cover and yahoo cover but both missed the virus and cant tell me why.

You can try unplugging the pc power supply from the wall receptacle first off. Leave it unplugged for a minute and plug it back in, try to boot. If this doesnt get it, either your on switch is bad or your power supply took a dump! If you find the power supply to be bad, buy a new one with a higher wattage rating.

My guess would be that you got a virus but im not sure! Did you install something recently? I read that you have Windows, what windows do you have; XP or Vista? if you have vista and it says... "windows explorer has stopped working" you definately have a virus. I guess your only option would be to take it to wear you bought it and have them re-write it... it sucks but its life! Benjua

your hardrive could be full, or you need to run a registry cleaner to free up pc if you can get it to run also try unplugging cables from motherboard and plug them back n and reboot, you can also try this unplug cd driver cables and floppy disk cables form mother board and leave hard drive plugged in only if it fails to boot from the hard drive then you know your hard riv is bad or gone, if it is then go into settings and set your pc to boot from any cd first in settings
hope this helps
