I agree. He would be President-for-hire, who whores out his Presidential power to the highest bidder. Thats why he is such a bad idea.

why pay him, he's pro-choice anyway
." While serving in the Senate he voted for the Partial-Birth Abortion Act of 2000. On a 1996 Christian Coalition survey, he handwrote, "I do not believe abortion should be criminalized. This battle will be won in the hearts and souls of the American people." In a 1994 political questionnaire Thompson indicated that he agreed with the statement "abortions should be legal in all circumstances as long as the procedure is completed within the first trimester of the pregnancy."

He would be yet another one who would be beholden to special interests. I saw the note about his being a lobbyist before the went to Washington and how he might have changed. What a crock. It just goes to show you how the Pub political snowjob machine works. It has conned yet another poor soul. Fred Thompson went back to 2 things after he left office- he went back to acting and he went back to lobbying.
After leaving the Senate in 2003, Thompson's did lobbying work for London-based Equitas Ltd, which is a reinsurance company. He was paid $760,000 from 2004 to 2006 in order to help prevent legislation that Equitas said unfairly singled them out for unfavorable treatment regarding asbestos claims.
We need a real President not one who can "act" like one.

I realize you had to use 'if' since it was a question and all but, let me point out what you meant.
"When Fred Thompson becomes President!"
And as for the rest. You want the cow or mr. diversity for easy pay for play legislation.

I don't think I would vote for Thompson due to my opposition to capital punishment (and his involvement with Planned Parenthood doesn't change my mind any), but in fairness please note that lawyers often represent clients even if they don't agree with them. Did you know that Lincoln once represented a slave owner in court even while he opposed slavery?

Good luck with the pot legalization effort. The law does more harm than pot smoking, and we would be better off using taxes generated by legal pot sales to treat addicts than spending taxes putting them in jail and ruining their lives. I think Ron Paul recognizes that.

Fred Thompson could be as good as Ronald Regan. He has already won the hearts and minds of the people, even before entering the race. It's only a matter of time before he comes in officially. You are definately looking at a two term President here, with the Congress and Supreme Court fully behind him.

His lobbying background makes Thompson too easy a target for his opponents. I doubt he would get past the primaries.

We all know that Freddy was a lobbyist before he came to Washington. But maybe he has changed. Just because he is good at being an actor doesn't mean he will fool everyone. I think he could be great.
