I'm designing some decks. Just wondering how I can divide a space equally into spaces. Even is easy, since everything just gets divided by midpoints, but odd is more difficult. Ideas?

Generally, you would calculate the total area, divide that by the number of desired spaces, then make each space the resulting area. For example, say your deck is 24'x18' and you want to divide it into 5 equal areas. Total area is 432sqft, that divided by 5 is 86.4sqft per space. Let's say you want the areas to be side-by-side rectangles along the 24' edges, meaning that one dimension of the rectangles will be 18'.

86.4/18 = 4.8' each. 0.8' * 12 = 9.6 inches, so the width of each space should be 4' 9.6"

Is this what you are asking? If you gave more details about the space to be divided, I could be more helpful.

Just divide the area by the number of spaces and measure it out.

3 /2 = 1 and 1/2

odd spaces divided by two will just take halves !

If the actual space has not been defined, choose a space (quanity) and copy that space in a linearly placed fashion three times consecutively....or five or seven......
