i dont think it will be offensive in the future... i think of today's "bad words" like how crap, suck, etc were awhile ago. they used to be "bad words" but now i hear it in everyday conversations and no one seems to care. so i think that eventually, people are just going to forget the idea of "bad words" and use the words and how everyone uses crap, suck, etc.

This word was used in Old English to describe sexual intercorse. P#ss was for Urination.
When the Normans won at the battle of hastings they took over the governemnt of England. Their language was the oficial language of England. It later became known as middle English.
After a few years the only people that used old English were the uneducated vulgar brutes. If people started to use these words then they were considered uncivilized and vulgar.
After that the words themselves got the stigma as vulgar. This is why they are considered vulgar today.

No, it just tells you what kind of idiot is asking the question. By using the word "scoffer" they believe it lends credence to their beliefs because their holy book made the STARTLING PREDICTION that "scoffers" would poke fun at Christians ridiculous beliefs. I'll tell you this much. If that's all it takes to be a prophet, I need to start up my ministry. Because I can make a lot more detailed "prophecies" than that.

"It is not an acronym for either Fornication Under Consent of the King or For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge or for anything else. Acronyms such as these are unknown before the late-19th century and not at all common until the 20th."

To verify my link, you have to type the actual word where yahoo has put ****.

Yes, it's a very old English word and derives from a German word 'ficken' meaning to copulate. Personally, I am from a generation which prefers imagination in insult and a bit of invention has more impact than mere over-use of the same short words.

The word was originally used when referring to planting seed in the fields - I believe in England.

So - in a sense the reference to "planting seed" still fits (sometimes) but for some reason it became a swear word probably just because of the sound of it.

The Court Recorder in the days of writing with pen and ink had to write out the Court charges day after day so:

The Charge preferred: For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge

was abbreviated to:

The Charge preferred: F,U,C,K. to save time.

According to Van Halen it stands for "For Unlawful Carnal Knowlege". I dont find it offensive, and use it quite frequently.
