I think they say nonsense things like this to benefit themselves.I believe Republicans will do anything to support big corperations even if it means the fate of our future. Big coperations would have to spend billions of dollars to be enviromental friendly so thats why they dont want to believe in global warming. Am I right?

I don't recall anyone saying it was a lie. We simply don't believe that it's the Chicken Little crisis that so many liberals do. We believe this for a couple of reasons.

First, what is the optimal temperature of the earth? We're still coming out of an ice age. Who is to say that stopping global warming at this precise point or, preferably reversing it, is the right thing to do? While scientists say that the Earth is warming, they're not saying where we should 'maintain' it. The reason for this is because they don't know and can't say.

Secondly, there is a great deal of scientific evidence to suggest that very little of the 'global warming' is man made. Did you know that Mars is warming too?

Lastly, scientists are constantly revising their estimates. If you've noticed it, and you probably haven't, scientists aren't really calling it global warming any more. They're calling it global climate change because in some parts of the world, the average temperatures are actually going down. The average temperature in Virginia was higher 30 years ago than it is today and yet we're having more frequent droughts. Why is that? It's a complex system, no one can say with any certainty.

So we're not saying it's a lie, we're simply saying that it's not a crisis and isn't likely to become one. Al Gore saying it, doesn't make it so.

I have not seen anything that says Republicans believe global warming is a lie. I have seen where they question the level of impact by humans. The fact that the scientific community has differing opinions on the cause and what effects are impacted by the occupants of the planet.
It really has nothing to do with big business. Some sectors would feel the impacts of additional environmental controls than others, but society expects them to put out all the money for control measures before we even know if they will actually have the desired impact.

For a long time, there was not universal agreement about global warming in the scientific community. Some argued this was just part of earth's natural cycle.

While there is still not 100% agreement on global warming, the vast majority of scientists are now in agreement that its real.

Even the republicans are beginning to take some notice. Baby Bush has backed off his claim that there is no such thing as global warming. But as you say, they're slow to react because of the grumblings of industry.

Many Republicans have admitted that global warming is a problem primarily caused by humans. Among them are George W. Bush (amazingly enough), Newt Gingrich, and John McCain.

However, a great many conservatives still refuse to admit that humans are causing the problem. For one thing, they're afraid that it will impact their individual lives (i.e. they won't be able to drive massive SUVs anymore). For another, they're afraid it will adversely impact business (in the form of a carbon tax or carbon cap and trade system, though this could actually benefit many businesses). The main problem is that they simply don't want to believe humans are to blame.

There is also a lot of misinformation out there. Exxon Mobile funds "research" to "prove" that global warming and greenhouse gases are not related (they fund JunkScience.com, too). You get right-wing talking heads like Rush Limbaugh who are about as far from climate science experts as you can get saying that it's not caused by humans, and conservatives believe them. Why? Because it's what they want to hear.

There are many reasons why conservatives don't want to believe that humans are causing global warming, and they're very good at finding ways to believe what they want to believe.

Because once a republican has been proved wrong, all they know how to do is use the same, already disproved, argument again and again, each saying it louder than before, in the hop ethat people will decide that even thought they are not right, it's to much hassel to fight the republican who's yelling at the top of his lungs.

Certainly corporate profits are threatened by any upgrading in fuel emissions and such, and Big Oil leads the pack - they naturally feel threatened at the thought of building cars that could get 40 mpg or not use petrol products [like the electric car etc.].

The media controlled by the right wing gang is eager to follow their masters and make fun of "tree-huggers". They look for every fake scientist they can buy to deny the realities of global warming--and are eager to jump all over people like Al Gore [a hated figure to them anyway] for pointing out some scientific truths.

Truth and reality are the enemies of these folks...and they spend literally millions to deny both. To these people, the middle and lower class voters are patsies to be misled and deceived...their philosophy is "I'll get and keep mine, and to hell with the rest of the world." Greed is good, right?

I pretty much agree with you. Republican politicians say global warming doesn't exist because they're all making big bucks from businesses that add to the problem. You're not going to cut off the hand that feeds you (or funds your campaigns).

Please someone explain how Al Gore is benefiting politically from being environmentally aware. He was writing about the environment long before he ran for president and An Inconvenient Truth came out long after. He's not running for anything so therefore he can not gain anything politically. Yep...everything the man does is part of a "liberal conspiracy." Why does not agreeing with Bush or wanting to do one's part to clean up the environment make someone a socialist or Marxist? I get really tired of hearing how my husband and I "hate" America because we're Democrats. My husband serves in the military and is willing to die defending a country he supposedly "hates."
This debate is taking on the level of playground bullying.

Global warming appears to be part of a natural cycle. I think the way the left has portrayed it is a farce. If global warming was a real issue we would be looking at real way to stop it. The biggest cause of global warming is the sun. It would be quite easy to reflect more of the suns rays back into space. The second biggest cause of global warming is the reduction of water vapor in our air. This is caused primarily by the deforestation of the rain forest. I don't see a lot of work on the part of the left to stop this.Carbon emissions are a very very small part of any global warming. Global warming has occurred on Mars. One must conclude that most of our global warming is not man made. Further when we see hypocrites like Algore and John Edwards living in mansions and using more energy in a month than I will use in my lifetime then I must conclude that the global warming crowd is insane or has a hidden agenda.

We don't say global warming is a lie. We just contend that it is a nature process the Earth goes through and we could not stop it if we, the whole world, really tried.

I have seen no sources that prove that Republicans don't believe in global warming. However I do doubt anything that Al Gore is linked to. He does not want to live the way he wants the average citizen to live.
Some scientist say global warming is real some say it is not. There is no solid proof either way
