I have a 11 year old bay thoroughbred. And my friend has a grey welsh pony whos 15. HELP!!

I usually bath my horses the night before the show and then they get put into a Robinhoods sheet and hood and are tied (so they cannot lay down) with a full hay bag and a bucket of water in front of them for the night. Then in the mnorning, all I have to do are a few touch ups.

It's not a matter of how long. It's a matter of getting them clean. Once they are clean there is no need to keep bathing them. So once the horse looks clean, then stop. Then like the other person said, place a cover on them and you'll be ready to go the next day.
