Honey, mine was that by 10. And yes, I wish my eye doctor had recommended ways to slow or minimize the progression of my deteriorating eyesight. Ask your eye doc and parents about getting hard contact lenses fitted. Not sure if it always works and hard contact lenses are a little more uncomfortable to get used to, but there are some people and doc's who swear that the hard lense reduces the growth of the eye. It is the back of your eye elongating that causes nearsightedness. So no lasik yet, you are still growing. And at this point they won't do lasik on anyone with vision worse than -4.00 to -5.00 depending on the office. Although, the TV, avoiding eye strain and carrot eating (I ate a million carrots, trying to correct bad vision) is good advice for everybody, unfortunately will not stop your eye from elongating. Talk to your parents about your worries, and then have them take you to an ophthalmologist to try to find a possible resolution. Carrots are shown to help with night blindness some, but I am also night blind and have not found significant improvement by ingesting carrots or the relevant vitamins, but everybody is different. Good news, I have functioned quite well (been around the world, had lots of fun as a younger adult and now have a beautiful family) with my contact lenses. Good luck and I hope you find a way to stop the progression.

Sweety, you might be too young for lazik surgery. But you can relieve any strain on your eyes by not watching TV too close, or being in front of the computer for so long (unless you have an antiglare) You also have to eat healthy. My mom always told me that carrots are good for your eyes.

Dear boy, please look at green grass or trees for about 30 minutes in the early morning everyday ( without wearing spectacles ).
Don't use computer for too long a time, rest after one hour.
Take more carrots.
Hope these help !

You could try eating more carrots. But try to get your parents to take you to the eye doctor.

Good luck!
