I will answer both of your questions because I am a coin collector. I do believe that it is worth it because you will have the correct grade of your coin, and with the correct grade you can find the exact value of your coin. NGC Is the best coin grading service although I've never used them. I would recommend ANACS because you can send in a coin without having to get a coin dealer to send it for you. I would recommend ANACS. Grading doesn't increase a coins value it just may sell easier if graded. I hope this helps answer your question.

If they were U.S. gold coins I would say yes, but for world gold coins I have to say no, you will be waisting your money. Only very rare world gold coins get graded by a professional grading company, the reason is most modern or common gold coins sell for the value of the gold in them and nothing more. They are really not a collectors item as much as a gold investors item. Gold Roosters from France from the late 1800's sell for a little over the gold value and the coins are over 100 years old, but very common, at last most dates are. Just want to give you an example here. Gold is an up and down thing theses days, so if you don't need the cash hold on to them for a while.

It depends on the value of the coin. Getting one graded will cost you about $25. But if it is a coin that is going to gain a lot of worth if it is graded at a certian level, then it makes sense.

I give a silver dollar an A+ because it is 100% !!

Even though it's a popular coin, I have to give the quarter an F- because it is only 25% !!

Sorry for the flippancy, but others have given wise, sage, and correct answers. (sp?)

Not sure I understand your question. If you want to determine the value of a coin, you have to grade it first....You'll have to find someone local.
