Yes tapas are normally around 1euro50 and are very varied, some places you will get a drink and a tapas for 2euros (about £1-40). Barcelona is a wonderful city for sight-seeing, as I don't know how old your children are I would say they might be bored. Menu del Dia in most restaurants is approx 10 euros, that's for three courses, a drink, bread and a salad. If you tour round the back streets you will find places with menu for 8 or 9 euros and its always more than you can eat. Hope this helps.

Tarragona or Salou which are just south of Barca are cheap, not as built up and better for kids because they are closer to things like water parks and Portadventura (Universals European theme park). They are not to far out for you to head into Barca by car or train either. Check out Portadventura's website and buy an entry ticket on-line before you go, I managed to find a weeks pass for £40.

Yes the tapes are cheap! No I don't think the kids would like it, very hot and boring. Give me the UK any day. love Bettina.

yes its a cheap way to dine and at the same time a good way to try out different Spanish snacks.....its quite filling.
