This shouldn't be too hard.
You want to find out how much money she had before she bought the crabs, right?
Well, you know she spent "45% of the remainder," meaning that we can pretend that how much money she had before buying crabs was 100%.
So we know that 100%-45% is 55%, right?
That means that 192.50 is 55% of whatever she had. And 55% is the same as 0.55
Are you with me so far?
Now, we can do some basic algebra.
We'll say that "x" is the total amount of money that we're looking for.
192.50 = 0.55*x
192.50/0.55 = x
350 = x
So we know that she had 350 dollars to start.
We know she spent 350-192.50 = 157.50 dollars on crabs.
She bought five crabs.
157.50/5 = 31.50 dollars per crab.

The question is asking you to figure out what is $192.50 plus the additional 45%, the 27% spent on the fish is thrown in there as curve ball.
Divide $192.50 by .55 = $350
At this point you know how much she had before she bough the crab and after she bought the fish.
From the $350, she is left with $192.50.
Subtract $192.50 from $350 = $157.50
$157.50 is what she spent on all 5 crabs.
Divide $157.50 by 5 = $31.50 per crab.

okay. i didn't get an exact number but i got an estimate. She started off with around $479 and $480. 27% of 480 is about 129. I subtracted 129 from 480 and got 350. i then got 45% of 350 which came out to about 157 and subtracted the two and got about $192. Your question was how much each crab was. The amount spent on the crabs was about 157. so i got the quotient of 157 and 5 and it came out to about $30. Each crab was about $30. :)

192.5 / 55% X 100 = 350 (73% of money)
45/100 X 350 = $157.5 (total money spent on crab)
157.5 / 5= $31.50
cost of a crab: $31.50

let us say she had $ x
she spent 27% leftover id 73/100*x
let us say this is y
leftover 55/100*y=192.5
==>y=350
money on crab=350-192.5
=157.5
money on each crab=157.5/5
=$31.5

She had 192.5/(1-0.45) = $350 before she bought crabs.
She spent (350-192.5)/5 = $31.5 on each crab.
The 27% on fish information is unnecessary to solve the problem.

.27x -- spent on fish
.73x -- remainder
.45(.73x) = .3285x -- spent on 5 crabs
(1 - 0.27 - 0.3285) x = 192.5
------------------------- x = 192.5/0.4015
------------------------- x = 479.452054
0.3285x = 0.3285(479.452054)
----------- = $157.5 - spent on 5 crabs
157.5 / 5 = $31.50 per crab
