There are tow types of summer seasons, Astrological & Meteorological Summer.

1. Astrological Summer:
This summer is when the Northern Hemisphere is facing the Sun and the Southern Hemisphere is facing away from the sun or vice versa. In the Northern Hemisphere (which is where your area is) this begins on June 21 which is called the Summer Solstice or the beginning of Summer and it ends on September 22 and this day is called the Autumnal Equinox or the beginning of Autumn.

2. Meteorological Summer:
This is a summer that runs from June 1 to September 1 in the Northern Hemisphere and December 1 to March 1 in the Southern Hemisphere. This is just used by Meteorologists for predicting weather.

There are Astrological & Meterological types of seasons for each season and here are the dates that they begin.

1. Winter:

Meterological:
Northern Hemisphere: December 1- March 1
Southern Hemisphere: June 1-September 1

Astrological:
Northern Hemisphere: December 21-March 21
Southern Hemisphere: June 21-September 2

2. Spring:

Meteorological:
Northern Hemisphere: March 1- June1
Southern Hemisphere: September 1-December 1

Astrological:
Northern Hemisphere: March 21-June 21
Southern Hemisphere: September 22-Dec. 21

3. Autumn:

Meteorological:
Northern Hemisphere: September 1-December 1
Southern Hemisphere: March 1-June 1
