Dont know - or care about the checkbook owners
Never have - never will
Yesterday I had a guy come in my shop and wanted me to give an estimate for a paint job - he wanted custom airbrush work on his tank and he said it has to be custom.
Well I went out there with him and there sat a Harley V-Rod -
Silver in color - and it was very clean - I looked it over pretty quick but I stopped in my tracks when I saw that it only had 87 miles on it.
I asked how long have you had it?
this is the 2nd year for me now he said.
I own a gas station so I dont have time to ride it.
Claimed he had been riding harleys all his life. I gave him a estimate for the paint.
He went to leave and ended up dumping the bike turning it in the parking lot - LOL - his wife showed up and says :
I TOLD YOU NOT TO GET THAT NOISY THING
He Just bought it from the dealer............
Now it is in my shop waiting for a repaint - then I was told to stick it out by the road for sale.......

Retired Ironworker, my first bike was a 1954 Triumph, all the rest were HDs. Yes iknow lots of both. I'm 70 yrs old and from what I hear most of the bashers are just flat jealous, I know a lot of metric bike owners, they ride their bikes, I ride mine and we get along just fine, even the metric riders I don"t know all seem like decent folks, like I say a few jealous people that repeat things they heard other people say, they don't really know anything about HDs.Harley is the only bike for me, what others ride is not my business . I got the bike I wanted off the floor, an 08 FLHX. From central Pa. to Las Vegas, 2500 mile in 4 days. I feel HD is as high tech as any bike on the market and more than most. I've been riding for 50 years, Ive never ridden a metric bike but that doesn't mean I don't like them. HD has always treated me good , so i'm sticking with them.

You know what guys. I have a 3 month old Harley with only 600 miles on it but I don't see what that has to do with anything. I bought it because I wanted it and can afford it, If it sits in my garage for the next 10 years without one more mile put on it who cares. It's just another addition to my collection. I'm a retired motorcycle racer with several championships to my name. The number of miles on my bike doesn't have a damn thing to do with my abilities. Those who judge others based on how often they ride their bikes, how much money they have, or what clothing they wear are the ones that cause so many others to hate Harley riders in general. Are you so pathetic that you just have to find ways to convince yourself that you are superior to someone else? As to the post above, it's just too stupid and redneck to even comment on.

Honestly, I just want to know when the Discovery Channel is going to start posting disclaimers. Do not try this at home. Not every douchebag can ride. Watching this show does not increase knowledge, mechanical ability or "bikerness".
I understand people have to learn somewhere but it's not about dressup and it's not about who can spend more on their bike. Reading a magazine does not actually mean that the person writing the article knows much more than the douches who read it. What you do for a living and how you pay for your ride is cool by me. But don't suddenly morph into Billy Bad *** when your 9-5 ends and come in the shop telling me how you've been riding 25 years, your buddy told you..., or you know what you're doing. If I can't see grease under your nails, keep your mouth shut and your mind open.
Now for anyone offended by this or any other opinion about this question, move on and go join your HOG club. Woohoo you own a frickin Harley. Who cares? A HOG patch doesn't make you part of some secrety society, billy bad ***, hardcore biker club/gang/organization. Stopping by a bar on your bike and walking in dressed in paraphenalia head to toe means **** to the guys who started this business and kept it going when Harley screwed it all up.
The guys who can turn a wrench on their bike (correctly) and who can diagnose their own problem (correctly) and who don't need to prove their manhood by bragging about how they have $30000 in their bike would just as soon watch you dump your bike and get lost.
If you dont' know and you ask nicely, that's one thing. But stupid questions (what kind of plug should I run in my TC88, where is the drain plug for my oil-oh, there's more than one?) will get you nowhere. Those are things found in owner's manuals, shop manuals, etc.
Ride because you want to. Own what you want but seriously, if you feel the need to brag or to attend every rally and bike show to prove yourself, you're proving nothing other than your lack of understanding of the word "biker".
"Bikers" are a culture of their own. They know how to ride in all elements, all temperatures and can go somewhere without the assistance of a truck or trailer. They are willing to get on their bike in a plain, unmarked tshirt and some ripped up jeans. They know what a kickstart is and aren't afraid to use it and they can usually tell you a lot more than any shop, school or person is every going to tell you.

Some left, some came. HD William still visits from time to time. All in all, it's still about the same, just a larger number of participants. Some good ones came too, so it's not like everythings going to Hades in a handbasket.
A tip to the others: He's not bashing HD, it's an honest question. translated: Are the _____ still here?

In Wichita, I'm pretty sure they're all down in old town parked in front of the America's Pub, profiling and trying to pick up drunken chix. (May they all get their paint and chrome puked upon...) In the meantime, I just put a new back tire on the old Kaw and I'm gettin' ready to head for Canada on the 20th... hope they haven't burned up the whole state of Montana with those wildfires... K ;o)

I hope so. They are usually the one's you hear about on the nightly news about over 40 year old getting hit by cars. They have the money to buy, but do not know how to ride.
