That's cute...
I can see a child thinking this....

Well, young man, mommy is reading this to you I hope.
Swords made by man are made from metal now, but they used to be made of wood and other things, I think.
Swords made by God are made of bone.
Feel your nose. It's hard in one spot and soft in another.
That hard spot is the bone that makes your nose the shape it is.
The soft part is the skin over that bone.

The sword is the fish's "nose".
There's a website I found for your mommy to read to you below.
I'm glad you have such good questions.
Ask mommy questions.
Ask mommy to read to you a lot.
You'll be a really smart person when you grow up because you are curious and you ask questions.

If you want to make a story out of it. Say, legend has it that before there were swords, men just used to go around throwing stones at each other and hitting each other with clubs. Which didn't go down to well because it used to bend the golf clubs and make it very difficult to hit a ball with one.
Then one day a king found a Swordfish lying on the beach and being hungry decided to eat it. Knowing that you couldn't cut the nose of the fish being that it was so hard he cut the head off and started to cook the fish over a fire. Suddenly a group of vagabonds, that's people who are bad and should be tied up, tried to come and steal the fish. So he took up the head of the fish and slew the vagabonds. A Blacksmith who was passing, he makes things out of metal, saw this and decided it would be a good idea to make the nose of that fish out of metal. And that's why we have swords, although the original sword was made of bone. Sorry I've got an over active imagination.

No...The swordfish is also known as The Gladiator (gladius) because of the sharp, sword-like bill it possesses as an addition to its streamlined physique, allowing it to cut through the water with great ease and agility. Contrary to belief the "sword" is not used to spear, but instead may be used to slash at its prey in order to injure the prey animal, to make for an easier catch.

Yes - in different centuries, people wuld catch the fish and use their metal swords to fight with. But soon they learned to make thier own metal swords and stopped catching the fish.

No it does not have a metal sword, the "Sword" is made from bone, and is basically just an extension of the top part of the mouth.

Metal is a mineral, not an organic material....no living thing is capable of producing or growing metal as part of its own body.

Yes and no. The old style of swordfishes were made from toledo steel. But, like many things today, plastic seems to be the in thing.
