My friend's name is Hayley and she says it isn't preppy, but I think it is. Is it?

All of the Hayley's that I know are preppy but I guess it does not mean that the name is preppy, just the people with the name!

you have to think about this in terms of when your child will be growing up the popular names of today are on their way to being the trailer trash names of tomorrow names start as obscure in the upper (preppy) classes and then trickle down society to the middle and then lower classes. look at the evolution of any name that was very populat in the 80's and is now today associated with commoners (Brittany, Stephanie, Ashley, Rachel) You'd do best picking a strange name, an old fashioned name, or a family name.

I like the name Hayley. One of my best friends is called Hayley and she's so funny and nice.

It's all a matter of perspective. There is no definitive right or wrong, yes or no answer to this question. Names are labels and do not carry an inherent value. The value or judgment comes from the person within the label and nothing more.

I think it is. Hayley, Katrina, Gabrielle...those types of common girly names sound preppy to me.
