They made a bid deal about how the crowd at Wrigley gave a standing ovation to Glavine as he left the mound.... only problem.... they did not. They went crazy because for the first time this year, Kerry Wood was running from the bullpen to take the mound. Don't these guys even watch the field?

I am sure there was cheers for Glavine - there were Mets fans there too. But my wife was at the game - and it was unmistakable to those there in the crowd what they were cheering for.
And the bullpen is ON THE FIELD. It would not be too hard for anyone to see Wood trot only about 25 yards to the mound... Well prepared announcers would watch for Wood to make his debut - not just Glavine and his family in the crowd.

Terrible!! Did you hear them go on and on about how Luis Castillo never played at Wrigley Field because he was in the american league his whole career? Castillo played 10 years and won 2 world series with the Marlins!!! He played in the 2003 NLCS at Wrigley Field!!!
Did you notice he kept calling Derek Lee, Carlos Lee too? Those guys are morons.

They are the worst every week. Joe Morgan has added nothing to any game he has called. They did not acknowledge their error. They said that Kerry Wood got a great ovation when they came back after the break. But never let the people know that that was the cheer they claimed was for Glavine.
Also, why the hell must we get forced to listen to Smolt calling in from his phone. I hate that every game on ESPN has to be about something - a milestone of some sort, or a player they are in love with. Just once I wish they would call the game. They treated the game as the Glavine Show instead of a game between two possible playoff teams.

To garpit c: If the Cubs fans didn't know what was going on, why would they have been cheering for Kerry Wood? By your logic, wouldn't they have "not known" that he was pitching for the first time in 14 months? Get a clue.
And yes, that was pretty stupid of Morgan. However, the Cubs fans did give Glavine an ovation after he did leave the game.

I think they were clapping for both actually. Maybe not all the cubs fans were for glavin but, most of them that were in back of the mets dugout were. Sure the fans were excited to see the Woods was entering the game as well. The real question should be why do you care? Were you at the game? Did it bother you that some fans were clapping for Glavin? Must be a mets hater I take it.

They are incredibly hard to watch. I was watching a Braves game one time and they kept talking about how Bobby Cox still had Ryan Langerhans on the bench if he needed a lefty pinch hitter. Langerhans had been traded to the Nationals a week earlier. All they care about is some stupid milestone or some sort of reunion game. The Louis Castillo comment mentioned above was also pretty ridiculous. There problem is they don't do their homework. The only games they know anything about are the Yankee's vs. Red Sox, because those are the only team's that ESPN wants to cover.

Joe Morgan is the all-time worst announcer. He talks about himself all the time and knows NOTHING about the people who are playing in the game, he does no research on the players, (both past and present history). Good announcer will do research and throw out some unknown tidbits...Morgan? Oh no, he throws them out there, but 99% of the time the stories are innacurate and made up! I can't watch ESPN sunday night baseball for more than a inning with him on there. He is the least knowledgeable announcer out there.

I missed it but if the crew was Joe Morgan, Joe Buck and/or Tim McCarver they are the absolute worst all time announcers in the Game. Even more horrible than our own Michael Kay who sucks big time. I turn the volume down when the ESPN crew is on......

The Sunday Night Baseball crew is just about as bad as Tim McCarver on Fox. I really wish they would get new announcers.

Did Joe Morgan talk about the standing ovations he used to receive? Everything is all about him which is why I never watch Sunday night baseball on ESPN.

they were cheering for both I think too, that is what classy fans do, when they get some on the other side of Chicago you know find out.
I also don't like Fox and also ESPN way too into the Yankees, that they can't be objective.
